Biography

Brandon D. Hastings has over a decade of experience helping clients create solutions to complex problems, first in business, and now in law. He graduated summa cum laude from his BBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership, and recieved his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia.

Mr. Hastings practiced litigation for his entire career, arguing multiple cases before the British Columbia Supreme Court and the British Columbia Court of Appeal. He believes in "settlement focused litigation," where the ideal outcome is a fair settlement attained though well-prosecuted litigation strategy. Mr. Hastings' practice with Diamond & Diamond focuses on litigation related to:

* Occupier's liability (injuries resulting from unsafe premises, including slip and fall cases)

* Motor vehicle accident injuries

* Wrongful death

* Denial of benefits

Mr. Hastings is frequently published for the benefit of the legal profession and the public. Since 2017, Mr. Hastings has chaired the editorial board of BarTalk magazine, a publication written to keep lawyers current on events related to the profession. Mr. Hastings also teaches and has taught courses in law and related areas through (among others) Osgood Hall Law School, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Thompson Rivers University, and the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia.

In his spare time, Mr. Hastings likes to volunteer, write computer programs, and do martial arts.

Mr. Hastings was a founding member of the organizing committee for British Columbia's "Access to Justice Week," which in 2019 was proclaimed by the BC Legislature.

Mr. Hastings has achieved a perfect score on the Graduate Records Exam (GRE) verbal reasoning section, placing him in the top percentile. The GRE is increasingly accepted by law schools, including by Harvard University, as an indicator of legal aptitude in place of the LSAT.
