Driving drowsy can cause police reported crashes! You may want to read this.

Tired while driving

It is very relevant to speak about being tired while driving especially as we are all suffering some slight lag due to daylights savings time changes. Drowsydriving.org reports that in the U.S. drowsy driving causes 100,000 police-reported crashes with an estimated 1,550 deaths and 71,000 injuries. And the numbers are increasing.

When I am questioning a defendant under oath, one of the first questions I am asking is did you have a good night sleep the night before the incident? What time did you get home? Did you have anything to drink the night before?

Being tired clouds our judgment and our ability to react. These type of cases seem to be prevalent with young males and shift workers who often feel that they can drive through their exhaustion. Remember, drowsy driving is extremely dangerous. If you are tired, stay home. Use the same premise you would use if you want to have a drink. If you know you are tired or going to be tired, and staying in is not an option, get a lift or use public transit. Do not take a risk with your life or someone else’s.
