After practicing for a while it never ceases to amaze me where people hear about their lawyers. I have heard rumors of everyone from tow truck drivers to porters in the hospitals referring people to law firms.

Be wary, a personal injury lawyer is an important decision. You need to research into who you choose and feel comfortable with that person.

It is important to ask the right questions like experience level, success, who will you be working with and proven results. I tell my clients all the time this is going to be like a mini-marriage with an amicable divorce. They need to be very comfortable with me because we have to discuss intimate details of their life and they have to trust me. It sounds strange but they call it “personal” injury for a reason, it is extremely personal.

When you are injured you can feel helpless and confused. The system is increasingly difficult to navigate through with constant legislative changes and what feels like endless forms. Having someone to fight for you can be reassuring and helpful. However, you need to feel comfortable that the person you hire understands you, hears your concerns and is able to address your concerns in a timely and expedient manner. If not you are not with the right lawyer.

Do your research, meet with as many lawyers you want and then choose the right one for you.
