At the end of the day we are all people that get we have personal issues to deal with. In light of the flooding this week it is amazing to me how many people have been patient and understanding.

Monday I was scheduled to fly in from our new Sudbury office to Toronto when my flight understandably was cancelled. These things happen. To add insult to injury I had about a foot of water in my basement waiting for me. Luckily my husband was home with the kids although regrettably he kept opening the freezer to feed them the ever nutritional popsicles without realizing he was spoiling our food.

My point is not to go on a diatribe but rather to say even when things go wrong there is no reason for a lack of communication. I missed various appointments, conference calls and had to cancel some meetings. Everyone understood. The reason they understood was that I called and emailed and just explained the truth. Things happen that is life and I think most people get that. The point is that there is no reason not to pick up the phone and explain. Lawyers sometimes lose sight of the important skill of communication. Do not forget it is our DUTY to communicate with our clients in a timely manner. So if you need help, assistance or simply have a question you have a right within reason to demand an answer. Do it politely you get more bees with honey..etc. but that is your right as a client.

So to all my clients I apologize profusely. For the rest of you waiting patiently for the clean-up crews as I am currently good luck, it will be our turn soon enough. Look on the bright side, this is not supposed to happen again for what 100 years? Let’s hope so.
