I guess being a personal injury lawyer, I am de facto an ambulance chaser. I’m still not sure why there is such animosity toward personal injury lawyers.

Don’t Hate Me Because I’m A Personal Injury Lawyer

I get it – people hate lawyers in general. Having been through litigation and had to pay the fees myself, I really get it. But why personal injury? Is it the perception we are profiting from the misfortune of others? Is it the depictions in the media or movies? I am not sure.

Yes, we are businesses and make a profit, but we are still the David in this David-and- Goliath story. Every day we battle insurance companies with unlimited funds.

I can assure you an insurance company doesn’t lose sleep when it loses a trial. If I lose a trial, I am devastated to have failed my client.

Contingency Basis in Personal Injury Cases

We take these cases on a contingency basis, which means we take all the risk. Do we make money on settlement? Yes. But if the insurance company does not pay, we get nothing.

We gamble on people. That means we believe in our clients so much we risk our own money to fight for their cause. If everyone was given a fair deal, I would not have a job. Unfortunately, there is plenty of business for me.

I don’t mind the jokes — if you want to send me some I will read them and laugh with you. Just remember we do important work. Work for those who could not afford a lawyer otherwise.
