Bragging Rights

I am taking a moment to brag a little because two people near and dear to my heart performed acts of bravery. While we at Diamond and Diamond help victims every day as a matter of course, it is also nice to see that faced with an emergency, none of shy away.
The first thing is Darren Slavens (of Slavens Realty), husband of my colleague Stephanie, headed into a local big box store on one of those unbelievably cold winter days of -35. He noticed a small child was locked inside a car visibly upset. Her breath was fogging up the windows. He immediately went into the store and called the manager and called police to intervene. He didn’t think about anything except rescuing that little girl.
Then my brother Isaac was walking in the mall this past weekend when he heard a mother frantically calling for help. He ran up only to find the child’s hand caught in the elevator and the doors quickly closing. He managed to hold the door open while slowly wrenching her hand out of the door just in time for it to close.
So outside of clearly being super heroes in our spare time, it reminds me of our duty to help one another in times of need. We are bigger than ourselves; we are part of a community. So if anyone has a great tale like the two I stated above, email me at Sandra@diamondlaw.ca and I will post them on our website. Have a great weekend!
